Swedish Massage
Swedish Style Massage, the most common form of relaxing, regenerating massage. Called Swedish because it was partially developed in Stockholm by a fencing instructor. The strokes in Swedish massage include long gliding strokes going with the muscle grain, kneading and tapping. The strokes are designed to improve circulation by moving toward the heart. There are also other moves like stretching and bending to help improve range of motion and joint movement. Return to menu
Shiatsu Acupressure
Shiatsu is a Japanese form of therapy that can be very effective to calm, soothe, connect and release blocked energy in the body, in your muscles and in your spiritual/emotional energy. Shiatsu literally translates as “finger pressure” and can be thought of as ACUPRESSURE. There are a few kinds of Shiatsu. I practice Zen Shiatsu which is often thought of as less painful - more connecting and uses Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) meridians and points. Great stuff! For Shiatsu you wear loose clothing - a t-shirt and sweat pants work fine. Return to menu
(NMT) Neuromuscular Therapy
Deep Tissue Massage Therapy or Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) warms up sore and painful areas and then goes after large knotted areas often deep in the muscle tissue, tendons and attachments. A knotted muscle has limited circulation and is stuck in a pain spasm cycle, bulding up toxins and cellular waste products. NMT seeks to break up these troublemakers and bring better circulation to help rejuvenate tissues by focusing pressure into specific areas to release the muscle. Sometimes called Trigger point Therapy. Return to menu
Positional Release Therapy
This a therapy that sometimes is quite effective in painlessly relieving a knot in a muscle. The muscle and/or limb is moved into it’s shortest position and held still for up to 90 seconds with a finger monitoring the affected area. The limb is then moved with no input effort from the client and has “reset” itself, in essence forgetting that it was
knotted-up. Return to menu
Integrative Massage
This is the mode where we bring all the benefits of Swedish, NMT and Shiatsu together and tailor the massage to what you and your body really needs. A combination of relaxing and warming with getting deeper into tight muscles and knots. Return to menu
Energy Work, Healing Touch and Reiki
There are so many types of Energy Work out there, but in the study of many, they are mostly related and are derived from ancient knowledge with new words and labels. They all work with Human Energy. I combine Reiki with Healing Touch and Barbara Brennan. Return to menu
